You cannot avoid the message: you need to relax! In magazines, blogs and on televisions shows the message is clear, we all need to relax, destress, and find time for self-care. Why? In 2024 our lives are intense and we live at a fast pace. We are constantly bombarded with information and we often feel like we are drowning. If you do not take care of yourself, and find time to filter this information, you will suffer, physically and mentally. The purpose of this blog is to help you find the best options for you. How will we do this? I call it Find Your Detox. I refer to the activities that help us disconnect with the world and reconnect with ourselves, as a Detox. I have accepted the mission to help you Find Your Detox. There are other activities that help you disconnect from the world such as binge watching a Netflix series, scrolling through social media, playing video games, but they are not a Detox, they are a Tox. The negative effects of these activities supersede the positive. A Detox is an activity that relaxes you with no consequence other than sore muscles such as Running, Hiking, Dancing, Yoga, Kayaking or an activity that helps you reconnect with your inner self such as Meditation and Reading or your creative self such as Music, Needlepointing, Knitting, and Painting . We will post articles about each Detox, cite studies that have been used to examine the benefit of the Detox, and provide resources for getting started.
